And he'll call back to say that all the violence that happens in red states is ONLY happening in Blue cities/counties, i.e., ONLY BLACK PEOPLE LIVE IN CITIES, THEREFORE, ONLY BLACK PEOPLE COMMIT CRIMES.

I've heard that bullshyt as long as I've been black 🖤

Hooks, ok!?!? Same here. I'm in Indiana and white maga right wingers love to focus on Indianapolis, when folks in smaller, more rural parts of the state are the ones out here going nuts with guns, crime, opioids, and violence.

I'm in Florida where every nutjob has a gun....no permit required. Most shooters are white.

Oh yes friend, Indiana was one of the first red states to pass permitless carry, Florida and these other wacko states quickly followed suit. They're all trying to out-maga each other. Bunch of maniacs.

I can't imagine how difficult it actually is to be black or brown in a country that supposedly was founded on the belief that" all men are created equal" when indeed, they are not and never have been in America. Even the man who expressed men being created equal, was imperfect and in one instance that I know of, shockingly and brutally attacked native Americans.

It's time we stopped that s***

Upstate NY is very different from the City and Long Island. It’s like 3 states in one. When I go back to visit family in both areas, they think the City is this big bad place where you will get mugged and attacked in the Subways and on the streets. I have never felt that way. I was in the City for 4 days last summer with my 6 yr old granddaughter and we had an amazing time walking all over the place. She loved it. When I was a child my Mother would take us into the City by train to see shows on Broadway. She did kind of tie us together so we wouldn’t wonder off, but there was no fear.

Don't mess with Mr. Signorile if you came to class without doing your homework.

Once again we see the danger of Fox News rear it's ugly head.

Here in North Carolina, we have a democratic governor who has to work with a GOP super majority. They rammed a bill thru the house recently that allows one to purchase a firearm without a permit if you purchase the weapon from a private person. The governor vetoed the bill and it was overturned.

I live in the Charlotte area and we’re tracking to have the most deadliest year since 1993. Let’s see how many homicides it will take for the citizens of this state to be outraged enough to vote these people out. Oh wait. That will never happen due to gerrymandering.

I lived in North Carolina for a short time and the anger and fear in that state was just too intolerable for me and I had to leave. I have lived in Florida for half of my life and now life in Florida is becoming increasingly hateful and intolerable. 🤔. It's Everywhere and we can't just keep running away from it. So somehow, we have to figure out how to live our own best life and present love and acceptance by example. That's all we can do. Finding Grace and peace within our own selves is the first step in the right direction in my opinion.

Agree. I was born and raised in Chicago, and I've been in Florida for 21 years. It's become very red now, which is disturbing. I thank Faux News, the orange nitwit, and DeSatan for turning people into hatemongers, homophobes and misogynists. I agree that I can't run....hubby and I are too old for that. We lead a quiet life and greet our GOP neighbors with a smile, but our friends are Democrats and we belong to a nice Diversity group here in Sun City where we've found kind and friendly people. We need to make our own lives what we want wherever we live.

Yes mame. Do what you have to do to live a happy peaceful life!

We're not obligated to keep anyone around us. They have permission to leave and love them from afar

I was a newspaper reporter in Oklahoma for 35 years, much of that time covering crime in Muskogee. The city made famous by Merle Haggard has more than its share of crime, I can attest. But at least police don't have to focus so much on someone with a joint, since the legalization of marijuana.

The problem is that they don’t want facts. Critical thinkers question everything and look up statistics, which don’t lie. People in the echo chamber want to be there to satisfy their own bias.

I live in a small, rural town with about 80 people. In the two houses across from me there have been four separate arrests -assault, domestic violence, felon in possession of weapons and trespassing. I don't even know what goes on at the other end of town 🙄

Loved how you handled the caller, Michelangelo! An honest debate involves the ability to argue one's side intelligently and with verifiable facts. Anthony and those like him are only interested in "alternative facts" or just enough kernel of truth to say things like gang violence is out of control. Also, we know that many of these callers have no idea of what "per capita" is, nor do they care to know. They figure that crime has to be rampant in the big "blue" cities amongst Black and Brown people because all you see on Faux News are endless feedback loops of crimes caught on security cameras or someone's cell phone, especially close to an election.

Perfect...my sentiments exactly! It's so tiring to have to keep repeating these A-B-C fact over and over again. But, in the end, it's our obligation to educate folks ,who for a lot of reasons, aren't capable of absorbing the facts. Our most basic foundational beliefs are firmly planted and baked in from childhood and unfortunately for many, but not all, to think critically and question our knee-jerk reactions to thoughts that are uncomfortable and foreign to us. It's easy to criticize thoughts others have despite evidence to the contrary. It's of the highest calling, to actually listen to another person's worldview, whether we like or don't like what they are expressing. We, ourselves, have an opportunity to try and understand why someone might feel the way they do because, in the end, we need to respect thoughts from our own whether we agree with them or not. And hopefully, by tolerating and actually listening to thoughts of other than our own, is where we can begin to come together, learn from each other and make the world a better place to live in for everybody. I grew up in a family circle who were racially biased. They didn't go out and shout it out from the rooftops but it was made clear that races other than Caucasian were undesirable and to be avoided. This is fear- based thinking that was taught to our elders and the elders before them and so on and so on Luckily for me, I'm capable of critical thinking and questioning those thoughts despite the childhood voices in my head. I believe this is what is meant by the saying "sins of the fathers".

So, yes. Not only is it our obligation to to let other people know that we hear them rather than parsley expressing disdain for them as this only reinforces and strengthens their negative thoughts. We put them on the defense by dismissing them. We can never hope to bring everyone together in a loving spirit without this.

Just saying...

Nah. A lot of the times when people ask for statistics or proof like that, they're asking in bad faith. If you're going to engage, ask them what threshold of proof would convince them otherwise. That answer should go a long way to inform you if you should engage or not. I find the vast majority of the time, in reality, nothing can change their minds and they're demanding proof as an argument tactic to get out into the weeds and not really discuss the original topic.

Hi Mike, thanks for putting this guys arguments to rest...he’s merely spouting RW talking points... as I always say, you have become so mellow in dealing with these folks I admire that quality..myself, well, I might take up throwing ketchup against the walls if I had to deal with such ignorance on a daily basis.. Once again, you, Mike, are a national treasure... keep these idiots in line and thanks.

Just posted Politico article regarding red state/blue state crime on our local Next Door. The wing nuts immediately attacked me. Of course their comments were misspelled and base. I’m sick of people not believing statistics. The reason crime went down in New York according to the book “Freakonomics” was not because of police, a mayor, or a governor (who all wanted to take credit) but because Roe Vs Wade had passed 20 yrs earlier.
