Another thing I'd like to add and get your thoughts regarding where you are. In New York City there's near universal mask-wearing -- on the streets, not just inside. This is even more than two months ago. It's like people, rather than getting tired of it, realized this is protecting us all. Also, I think people feel like they would be ostracized or just would stick out. I know it's that it's not the same elsewhere, so please tell me about where you are.

I'd say here in Suburban MD, 60-70% of people *outside* wear them. Masks are mandated inside for EVERYONE, and compliance seems to be complete. They even cover their noses, thank God.

Expand full comment

Everyone in Seattle wears one. I live in an urban neighborhood and the only people that don’t wear one are running.

Most people are staying inside, not that many people on the street at all, reports husband.

Hey Mike...

You left off one of their key Cult behaviors. They are STILL with him after insulting military service. Amazing. I always thought GOPers had core values, different from Liberals, but still values, and I could respect that. The last four years have shown me and, hopefully, the rest of the world, they ONLY care about power and "their side." I'm flummoxed and scared for our nation if they don't get a beat down at the polls and learn something.

It's insane. They will overwhelm the poll workers. If you're voting by mail it defeats the purpose to vote in person.

Still feeling stressed about potential fraud in our 2020 election,

I noticed the Trump/RNC campaign was even planning a new victory celebration post election on the White House lawn again per a CBS News story.

Seattle is experiencing horrific air contamination and our courtyard is black from the tar in the air.

Well, I lost my job to COVID, and my kids are schooling online/at home, so I’m a “substitute teacher” now. I can’t look for work because this may last longer than we think. Thank God my husband is still working. I’m not going home to Philly for Thanksgiving because my family are die-hard Trumpers. I want to actually enjoy the holiday and something tells me the election will be a cluster. My husband is a Brit- so I told him we seriously need to consider leaving the country if Trump wins. I feel like he could only win by cheating-and at that point, what is left of democracy would die.

Monica, so sorry to hear you lost your job. And yes, stay away from Trumpers for a while. It's psychologically damaging.

I live in southern Oregon, where we have had mail in ballots since 1998, with NO ELECTION FRAUD!!!!!!!!!!! We just had a wildfire event that has decimated three towns in a matter of hours.

Three of my acquaintences have lost their home and all contents, with just 10 minutes evacuation notice. We have the worst air quality in the world at this point. I am making an evacuation plan today, that may come at any time soon. life on the edge. But I expect no recognition from this vile administration. They care nothing for the citizens of America. I need to wear a mask to just leave my door with such harmful air quality. Luckily I have no immediate health issues but still I cough for a half hour after returning home. And I know that #45 gives not one f*ck about the situation where I live. This is the most defiled and corrupt administration in my life time. 51 days until wee can vote this fu*ker out of office and fire all his reprehensible appointees immediately. VOTE BLUE ACROSS THE BALLOT. Enablers must be kicked out of office in November.

Air quality in Ashland, Oregon is 515.

Expand full comment

Do you live in Ashland? I heard the fire was really close there!

Expand full comment

Yes, it started in north Ashland and then quickly spread north thru the Bear Creek Greenbelt to Talent and Phoenix and south Medford. Winds 20-30 mph and gusting to 40mph. Many vids on YouTube if you want to see the effects. So very sad for those affected. Friends lost everything; just 15 mins to evacuate.

Is downtown Ashland still there? It’s such a lovely little town with the Shakespeare Festival and all.

And now we have Roger Stone telling him to seize power. I keep thinking what would all these people be saying if this were Obama? We know.

Here in SoCal a bit smoky but most of the smoke here is way up in the atmosphere so ground level not too bad. Oregon got hit badly due to much in inhabited areas. Glad to see Newsom just BLASTING climate science deniers yesterday, and yet Cult45 is saying “well some of these fires were started by arson so it’s not ‘global warming’.”

No matter what, we are NOT going back. We are going forward whether the Cult wants to come along or not.

Otherwise, fish tacos for dinner. Swim laps before then. Your show was great this week, can you put up either here or on Twitter a link to your interview with Beto? That was an EXCELLENT interview. He’s doing great work and so are you, M. Get us through the next 51! Thanks for all you do. This newsletter is a highlight of the week.

It’s status quo in southern NJ. Thankfully our governor is working with NY and CT.

Not surprised by the news Trump’s campaign is out of money. Another bankruptcy to be added to his perfect financial management history.

I lived in San Fran from late ‘99 to early 2001 and it is so sad to see how the wild fires are affecting California. On a separate note, a friend’s son started his freshman at the same high school I went to. The kids were overheated due to summer-like temperature. When I was a freshman 46 years ago September had perfect autumn weather and I wore a light jacket. So for all the still non-believers, yes climate change is real.

We need to fix this NOW and we can in November when we get rid of King Asshole and his enablers!

Well, let’s see. I’m down on the southern border (McAllen, TX) 107 degrees. Waiting for broccoli to cross over from Mexico. Covid 19 is still here. Everyone is taking extreme measures. Not much else to see. I heard ICE has released several thousand unaccompanied children back across the border. The ones they were hiding and keeping mobile. I don’t think we can really trust what they’ve said about that. It seems a bit un-trumplike to me. As does anything they’ve said about their situation.

All I see and hear about are Trump rallies. Has Biden had a rally of late? You spoke of speeches he’s made here and there. But I rarely see or hear about his speeches being mentioned in the media. The MSM, anyway. Listening to your show is usually the first and only time I hear about a Biden speech. I thank you for enlightening me, but this concerns me.
