Weekend open thread: What are you doing on this holiday weekend?

Donald Trump delivered a white supremacist screed at the foot of Mount Rushmore, and another in Washington on July 4th, determined to reset his campaign by getting even more racist.
In his mind, he’s not racist enough. That’s what’s wrong with his campaign, according to him.
There’s no social distancing of any kind or masks at these events.
His son’s girlfriend and campaign fundraiser Kimberly Guilfoyle tested positive in South Dakota before the Mount Rushmore event, and they decided to drive her back to Washington — rather than isolate her there. So she exposed people to conronavirus well before the event, and on the way there and on the way back.
And Trump’s friend and campaign surrogate Herman Cain tested positive for covid-19 and was hospitalized, days after he appeared maskless at Trump’s Tulsa rally.
Joe Biden made a stunning video for July 4th, showing the kind of the leadership and presidential demeanor Trump could never muster.
The South and West are out of control — terrible surges of coronavirus in Florida, hitting its record of over 11,000 cases in a day while Governor Ron DeSantis refuses to order a shut down.
Here in New York, where we’ve flattened the curve, we’re just worried we’ll see a resurgence. I went for a run today, and made food at home. The city is pretty quiet as people are staying in, but everyone’s in a mask when I go out. Texas now has mandated mask-wearing, but I wonder if people are following the order.

I live in AZ. My sister is an NP who normally works in Urgent Care. They are swamped with patients w/Co-19. She has been called into the hospital to help assess patients because Drs.are swamped as well. It is a scary time here. I worry about her, not only being in contact with so many sick people, but the extra hours she is putting in. These medical professionals are working their asses off while idiot Trump golfs and talks a bunch of babbling lies to his cult members.

I watched Hamilton. So timely to be released RIGHT now. I was glued -it made me laugh and cry. then I had to fact check some stuff lol. I feel very strange this 4th of July. for the first time, I do not see any reason to celebrate "independence day". I have learned much this year about real inequities that so many suffer and have suffered. I will continue to learn and absorb. i will be at my home this weekend to avoid confrontation with the " I'm not wearing a mask-I'm not afraid. tourists"
on a different note: I enjoyed Michelangelo sharing the story of his first meal out in months, with his husband David, at a restaurant seated in the middle of the street...now that is city livin' (insert a GIANT smile here!)
