Went out today and was so happy to see that I did not see one person in the stores I had to go to not wearing a mask. My daughters college went to 100% online this weekend as well for the fall. I continue to believe we are in for a long ride with this virus with no national leadership. I am thankful for my governor Who takes this very seriously. I love your show and don’t miss a day!! Excellent article in WaPo today about how much of an uproar conservatives were in over Elizabeth Dole, under Reagan, getting the seat belt law going. So incredibly ironic. I guess the good news is we are about to break 100 days until the election.

The Mayor of New Orleans closed ALL bars in the city as of 6am this morning. Not even “to go” orders or curbside delivery is allowed. I realize that this may not sound like big or surprising news to everyone bc it’s happening in other cities as well. But I live just four blocks from the world famous Bourbon Street in the French Quarter and the place looks like a ghost town. The city’s economy relies on the tourism industry, but many restaurants and bars will not survive. Some have already closed their doors permanently, and the others have no idea how long this new executive order will remain in effect. And, the stay of evictions has been lifted just as the extended unemployment benefits from Congress are coming to an end. Don’t misunderstand, I think our Mayor is doing the best she can and making the really hard decisions that she and her counterparts shouldn’t have been forced to make. New Orleans defied the odds a few months ago by flattening the curve faster and better than anyone thought that we could or would. Louisiana is the lone state in the Deep South with a Democrat governor...despite Trump’s best efforts and ineffective rallies to unseat the incumbent Governor Edwards. I shudder to think how badly Louisianaianas would have fared had the imbecilic Republican candidate won the election. His entire platform was to repeal the ACA (Obamacare), push pro-life and pro-gun policies while lowering taxes for himself and his extremely wealthy cronies. Which also explains why the GOP governors in the surrounding states are failing epically to get a handle on the health and economic crises. The only silver lining that I can find is that Trump and the Republican Party have made America so much worse than it was almost four years ago, that I know several people who will be voting for a Democrat for the first time in their entire lives. Nevertheless, I don’t believe Louisiana will turn blue and give its electoral college votes to Biden This year. But, it’ll be a helluva lot closer of a presidential race than anyone in the Sportsman's Paradise would have predicted just six months ago. I suspect that will probably be the case for most of the states that Trump wins in November. Not to mention the expected and very well-deserved virtual slaughter of the down ballot Republicans....which is yet another silver lining of this disastrous and unprecedented year in the history of these United States of America.

Here in New York City, barbers and salons are open; construction is back; outdoor dining is open (no indoor). Retail shops are open, like say a furniture store, for a limited number of people at a time -- must wear mask, sanitize, and leave name and number upon entering. And that's really it. No bars, nothing. So what happened there? Did it go further, faster?
As a person who always has something to say, I am now lost for any cognizant words for this mountain-high mess of a government. I truly feel like I am living in his rump's chaotic head and can't get out. But hope still abounds that this madness will be over by getting involved, voting, back democratic candidates, get through covid and say a little, no massive prayer two.
I'm still recovering from the whiplash of Mayor Lori Lightfoot first vowing to use every conceivable means to stop a Portland invasion by Trump's unidentified militia, then 2 days later changing her rhetoric and inviting the same militia to join an undefined mission of unlimited scope to 'combat violence'. How exactly will this work? How long will these troops remain in Chicago? What authority do they possess vs the city police? How is violence defined? Chicago has been an over-policed city with a ceaseless parade of gangs for decades. How will thwarting the long-overdue demands of the BLM protestors via untrained weaponized paramilitary address Chicago's decades-long gang violence issues? Especially when Trump refuses to address gun control.
I was also very surprised to learn of her sudden about-face after she had been quite adamant regarding her refusal to even entertain the idea. I would’ve loved to have been conferenced in on that phone call between her and Trump.
There must be a reason; constituents and local media must keep asking Lightfoot "why?"
Something happened in that conversation with Trump, and she owes her voters an explanation. He may have used overt blackmail, or covert threats e.g. "time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee." Think about what she needs from the Federales, something he could withhold unless she changed her position, something that would hurt Chicagoans badly.
I am convinced e uses COVID supplies to threaten our governor, Kate Brown, to keep her from arresting his illegitimate storm troopers on Portland's streets.
Trump's sole tactics include threats and quid pro quos, so I agree with your assessment. My concern is that Lightfoot was part of a mayoral coalition opposing unilateral police action and she appears to have fully surrendered, thereby weakening both the coalition and Chicago's standing to bring lawsuits as Portland is endeavoring to do.
It may look like mask wearing has improved in the UP of Michigan. Went shopping yesterday and Walmart had pretty much full compliance, the grocery store had good compliance and the Tractor Supply Company only had a few people in it and everyone had a mask on. Mostly younger people not wearing a mask, but are getting better with it. I might wear a mask for 45 min. to 1hr. tops per day. Definitely not an inconvenience and may save a life.
The last 3.5 years of my golden years haven't been too good. The ACA of which I'm covered thru has been under constant attack, the virus has stifled many activities I enjoy and being lied to on a daily basis by the Lying A-hole-in-chief can really stress a person out. I'm doing as much as I can with the local Democratic Party to help get rid of the Lying A-hole-in-chief. One can only hope it'll get better after 1/20/21.

But they are rationalizations for the person moving into the cult, not real and concrete efforts to look at problems and solve them. Because upon further examination he would see that those problems are never ever going to be solved in the Trump party. But they at least are being addressed by many Democrats -- and many others have been addressed and solved. The world isn' perfect and neither are humans. You can get involved and make change where you can -- if you really want to. He's making excuses rather really making any logical conclusions.
