And surely it was a frightening thing for many of them to have witnessed and to contemplate as well when one considers the impact the United States of America has had on the broader world all during the 20th century and now as the 21st century expands beyond the first two decades of its manifestation.
Not only was it the "Arsenal of Democracy" as FDR so eloquently described it would be as Nazi Germany and its Axis allies menaced the world, its certain that without it having assumed that vaunted stance the world most assuredly would have entered the darkest period in human history as the Axis would have surely succeeded in bringing oppression to every corner of the globe. It is the oldest democratic republic in world history and is considered by the vast majority of the world, I'm sure, the one essential nation in the world, considered the bastion of defense for the maintenance of world peace against those forces who like those Axis powers have a similar determination through intimidation and military aggression to destroy any semblance of democracy and human liberty around the world. And surely that would be the case should the United States collapse from internal pressure by those same forces within its own borders who seemingly have a desire to see the nation become a victim of oppression itself because they have naught but disdain for our democratic republic and would prefer not to see our nation the sentinel of peace but would rather turn it into a pariah and a danger to all of human existence.
These domestic enemies would make common cause with our external enemies around the world, as the Republican Party has done for to many decades to count. We have often fell short at times around the world and domestically in being the example and standard barrier of this duty that was of necessity thrust upon us at the end of World War II, but as former British PM Winston Churchill once observed "Americans will always do the right thing, only after they have tried everything else." Such is the case now and we of necessity now must all reach a consensus that people like George and the current iteration of the Republican Party that his treasonous ilk supports are the domestic enemies I took an oath to defend the nation against when I became a soldier in the US Army over fifty years ago.
