I can never quite tell if it's them just not wanting to accept they made a mistake and keep hoping trump will do something good to ease their conscience or if they just truly believe he's above the law when everyone on the other side isn't.

I believe that both theories are correct: (1) there is the cognitive dissonance and denial; otherwise, they would have to admit they made a mistake and (2) people who are on their side can be above the law.

To add to it, the Drumpf cult is eerily like McCarthyism, which most of us are too young to remember (we could only reference it through history books, which many in America seem to avoid.) McCarthyism is rooted in lies and false accusations, and sadly McCarthy had ardent followers too in his day. And Roy Cohn was Joe McCarthy’s legal counsel. That alone is “enough said.”

Hi Mike, I did hear the call originally and man, that guy sounded like he was in the dense MAGA forest with no way of getting out. I'm a member of a Moose lodge in SE Virginia. Normally they refrain from talking politics to keep the peace. I know most of them are probably republicans. Last week an older lady went on a rant about Biden out of nowhere. No one was really responding to her until I engage with her. She was just loaded with Faux News talking points. She said Biden has done absolutely nothing during his time in office. I ran off a list of Biden's accomplishments, and she said she never heard of him doing any of it. I told her she probably only listen to Fox and she said that's the only place they tell the truth. She said she loves trump and democrats are all lying on him. The cult is strong with her, and people like her. They are totally lost for good.
