LGBT students and teachers in Florida are traumatized. All Americans should be by this law, but that’s another story. We need LGBT teachers to be brave, and continue to be out. And we need LGBT parents, and especially the straight parents of gay and trans kids, to start raising hell! Their kids are under assault.

Don't say Gay, banning books, I'm exasperated. God Bless you for dealing with the biased ignorant. All I ever prayed for was a healthy child. I never thought to care about who or how they would love. I just want them to fall in love and also love themselves.

Yet another example of the lack of critical thinking. 4 years of making dumb mainstream you get callers like this. Kudos to you for your professionalism. I would have hung up on him!

Gracias, Miguelangel! When I was a child in school we all talked about our personal lives and it was not a big deal. Fuck that man making some bullshit up to express his fucking narrative.

I just spent some time over on Newsmax (now and then I need to reassure myself that I am not as stupid as Trump supporters).

So, quite a few there are now saying that it is good that laws like this respect parental rights over their own children--they do not like the state making requirements on parents, through schools.

Now, this is where I get confused. Because the law does NOT "require" that schools provide a discussion on the existence of gay people. Rather, the law DOES "require" that schools do NOT do discuss their existence.

This appears to me to be a requirement, not matter how you look at it.

Thank you for outing this clown on being a bigot (and no way is he a teacher). And yes, you are a far better person than moi. I would have asked him if he was born stupid, or does he work really hard at it......

I couldn't do what you do Michelangelo. I would scream to much. They have no rational or real answers when pushed even slightly. Thanks for revealing them.

I don’t know on this guy, what to think, a convoluted conundrum. Mike, there was another outrageous caller I’m hoping you spotlight this weekend. All I can recall is first letter of his first name was a “J”?? Gee, if that’s all I can recall, why desire a breakdown and see your and everyone’s comments?? But I do hope for that, he was outrageous. Am i correct even on a “J” ??? Good grief.

First of all, I agree that children do not need to be taught about sexual orientation or anything sexual until middle school. “Taught” is the operative word. I do not believe this is happening anywhere in the US public school system. I would not want my 6 yr. old granddaughter sitting in class being taught about sex at all. She is to young to have to think about sex issues.

I think this is a made up social issue by Republicans to pass ridiculous laws that only perpetuate the fear in parents.

That said, if a fellow student that has a family made of two Mommies or two Daddies, they should have every right to speak about it without feeling different or ostracized. If a kid goes home and tells their parent, little Jimmy said he has 2 Mommies, it’s up to the parents to explain it. A teacher doesn’t need to say anything. It’s a non issue. If a parent has a problem with it, they can take their kid out of school and put them in a faith based school.

That is the difference between being “Taught” something in class and being exposed to different families. The majority of people in this country would not make a stink about it.

The whole thing is just obnoxious and absurd. I’m so sick of these stupid issues being a cover for what really needs to be discussed in this country. This is the exact MO Republicans have used to enrage their base for decades. They do it because they can and Democrats fall for it and keep it in the forefront of politics.

We know it will be tough, but our nonprofit mission is getting copies of the Rainbow Quest! board game into every school to affirm and educate gender and sexual diversity for ages 11 and up -- so far the NYC school system has been our only large system to buy the game, but we are confident that as schools return back to normal, we'll continue to make headway and save LGBTQ+ lives.
