While discussing Aaron Rodgers lying about getting vaxxed, Steve oddly called in to criticize descriptions of ivermectin -- and refused to say he's not taking it.
This phone call is a great example of the ulterior motives and strategies utilized for taking power by hard right cultists. They call with an “apparent” motive for the call, some “substance” they want to discuss or a specific point they want to make. But that’s not the real reason they called. The real reason is to provide another skirmish in the battle for the cultist right to win and take power. Each of these calls has the primary motive of sending a message to prospective Republican voters to vote Republican, vote for American-style fascism, but couches in different terms.
Michelangelo did exactly what he should do to counter these thinly disguised skirmishes. He was perfectly knowledgable about the drug ivermectin in a first-hand way because of its use on his own dog. He engaged the caller on the apparent “substance” of the phone call in a logical, rational, manner without emotion. But all he had to do was to wait until the real motive for the call started to become apparent: a series of distractions and avoidances which really said to the caller’s base, “We are here on this show and we are going to win.” Then, I think it was entirely appropriate for Michelangelo to get emotional and eventually break off the call once the true motive of the caller became apparent.
I would like to share a quote by author George Orwell from his famous book, “1984.” This is a bit long but please bear with me. I think Orwell has hit the nail on the head about the Republicans’ quest for winning and power. Thanks as always Michelangelo.
“Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.”
― George Orwell, 1984
Yes! A great horse pic!
Nice horse pic Michelangelo. :-) I used to show horses at Cornell so I am familiar with Ivermectin and it is never used in humans. Parasites in humans are first treated with Iodine tablets and then with much more sophisticated medicines, if that doesn't work. Once again a lack of education is on call here with the right wingers. You are absolutely correct that an anti-parasitic med would have no effect whatsoever in treating a virus. Just like drinking bleach or shining light somehow into the body <G>. As for Mr. Rodgers, he is a liar and a $10,000 fine is the least he should have received for his lies. He should have been sanctioned for several games or the rest of the season as a punishment in an organization (the NFL) which has a 95% vaccination rate! As someone young children revere as a hero, he has done a grave disservice to this country and to their parents who will now, in some cases have a fight on their hands to get those children vaccinated. Will this nightmare of idiocy ever end?!?
LOL! That dude is aware of Aaron Rodgers taking Ivermectin but not aware that he lied about being “immunized” during a press conference. Ok Steve!
Mr. Ed must be that guy's GP.
This is the typical claptrap employed by sociopaths. Steve from Virginia is a sociopath. Aaron Rodgers is a sociopath. We need to call them out as sociopaths.
A point of clarification: I am a clinical pharmacist at a large hospital, and ivermectin is used from time to time in humans, so calling it a "horse dewormer", while accurate, is a little misleading. There are indeed some parasites that require ivermectin that other antiprotozoals will not treat. That all being said, ivermectin is NOT approved for COVID and should not be used to treat it. The studies that showed some promising data in the beginning were all fatally flawed. In the rare situations where it would be used to treat a human infested with a parasite, it needs to be prescribed by a physician.
I swear, Virginia has non-idiots who are vaccinated and, as Rachel Maddow says, live on Earth One. I'm sadly relieved he believes in medicine at al.l Many say "God will protect" them, and if they die it "was their time to go". Which would be fine if they didn't take other people with them by spreading it. Sadly, far too many do think like this and live on Earth Two. My county is in the idiot camp overall. Pray for us Michaelangelo.
Richard’s comments and research, as well as yours, Michaelangelo should be forwarded to every democratic news outlet in America as a stand against these anti-vaxxers’ consummate stupidity!
